VR Paint & Sip: Uncork Creativity in Virtual Reality!

Unleash your inner artist in a whole new dimension! This enchanting evening blends the fun of a paint-and-sip party with the magic of virtual reality. Strap on a VR headset, grab your (real or virtual) drink, and follow along as you paint in 3D space—where your brushstrokes glow, swirl, and defy gravity!

No experience needed—just bring your imagination. By the end of the night, you’ll have a one-of-a-kind VR masterpiece (and maybe a new favorite way to unwind).


VR Art Lab - Painting an Octopus's Garden in 3D

Explore the fundamentals of 2D Design within a 3D Spatial Landscape. Use Virtual Reality as your brush and canvas to create an underwater garden that you can virtually walk through—not just admire from afar. The class ends with a public gallery viewing where your work comes to life!

Lab time where students can sign up for to come in and work:

Intro to Programming with Unity and C#

Date and times: July 14th - July 18th 8am - 12pm with a public Open House July 19th 10am - 2pm.

This week-long Introduction to Programing class, using C# in the Unity Game Engine, will start with basic data structures, loops, and code syntax but will quickly move into object oriented coding due to the native environment of the game engine.  Game specific concepts such as collision, input events, FSMs, and components will be covered.  Learning is facilitated through the development of three simple games.  The class concludes with a public gallery event allowing students to invite their friends and family to come in and enjoy their creations. 

Taught by Ruth Comley, Associate Teaching Professor at Carnegie Mellon University's  Entertainment Technology Center, with 29 years of teaching experience in Digital Art, Game Programming, Game Production, Experience Design, Film Production, and Theater Production.

Game Design with Unity

Date and times: July 14th - July 18th 1pm - 5pm with a public Open House July 19th 10am - 2pm.

Virtual Reality Content Lab - A Beginner's Journey 

Date and times: July 28th - Aug. 1st 8am - 12 pm with a public Open House Aug. 2nd 10am - 2pm.

This week-long Virtual Reality Content Lab class, using the Unity Game Engine and either the Meta Quest or the Index VR headset, will explore the development of Immersive Virtual Reality Experiences.  Learning is facilitated through the development of a simple VR Experience.  Students can choose one of two pre-built projects (with base code and assets provided) to focus on level design and player interactions. The class concludes with a public gallery event allowing students to invite their friends and family to come in and enjoy their creations.

Virtual Film Production - AI & Live-Actor Compositing

Date and times: July 28th - Aug. 1st 8am - 12 pm with a public Open House Aug. 2nd 10am - 2pm.

This week-long Virtual Film Production class will composite a live-actor into virtual backgrounds to build a 1-3 minute film.  Exploration of the space begins with storyboard breakdown, using AI to generate backgrounds, recording narration, recording greenscreen plates, and finally editing it all together into a cohesive story.  The class concludes with a public screening event allowing students to invite their friends and family to come in and enjoy their finished films.
